What type of work do you do in your role as an Consultant at EY-Parthenon?

As an Consultant at EY-Parthenon, you are responsible for a certain part of a project. Under the guidance of your manager, you become the well-versed in that area. You are involved in data collection, data analysis and making schedules. Depending on the project, you collect data from various sources, such as interviews, desk research or market agencies. After that, you analyze the research and share the findings in a presentation. Together with your team, you discuss each other’s findings and ultimately help the client. Because we work in many different sectors for a variety of clients, no two projects are alike. Each project has its own challenges, so we continually learn new things.

What is one of your favorite projects that you’ve work on?

I was pleasantly surprised when I heard that my second project was for a horse sporting competition. I’ve always had a great affinity for sports. In the past, I played baseball at a high level and participated in many other sports. During this project, we assisted the client with their business plan. In order to gain insight into how we could improve their performance, we looked at other sports objectively and asked questions, such as: How did Formula 1 grow into a million-dollar business? How can darts attract such a large audience? Why was the Volvo Ocean Race so popular online? These analyses not only produced insights, they were also fun.

Why did you choose to work at EY-Parthenon?

During my years as a student, I came in contact with the team at a recruiting event. The event was intellectually challenging, and I was impressed with the consultants’ mentality, specifically the way in which they interacted. It looked like a nice work environment, one where you are challenged and can learn a lot. After completing my studies, I applied and was hired. A few years later, I am still happy with the choice I made!

How would you describe the culture at EY-Parthenon?

Open, driven, direct and fun. We are motivated to get the best out of ourselves and help each other. Everything is communicated clearly and openly, so everyone knows what’s going on. In addition to working hard, we enjoy many Friday afternoon drinks, as well as special events and other activities.
