What type of work do you do in your role as an consultant at EY-Parthenon?

Responsibilities increase throughout your entire career and when you make the step to consultant, you start managing your first projects. This entails a move from doing specific analyses and focusing on pieces of the problem, to keeping an overview of the complete story and bringing all pieces together to formulate a compelling advice. Furthermore, you keep in close contact with the client on the one hand and the team members on the other. It is not only about managing the content, but also all the people who are involved. This makes the job really diverse!

What is one of your favorite projects that you’ve work on?

I really enjoyed helping with the takeover of a design company that produces, among other things, furniture and lamps. On this project, I focused on researching countries the company could expand into. It was very interesting to learn what makes a country attractive for the client’s products and how opportunities vary from country to country.

It was also fascinating to learn how this company develops and designs products and brings them to market, as well as why products became successful or why not. This made the project very dynamic and inspiring. In a few weeks’ time, I learned all about how a specific market works involving products I use and can find in stores. That made the work very tangible.

Why did you choose EY-Parthenon?

The atmosphere and the no-nonsense mentality made me feel at home right away. The office at EY-Parthenon is relatively small, so you know every colleague and the connections are very personal. Like many people in the Netherlands, I always imagined I would work in Amsterdam, but my rebellious side told me that I should choose the emerging city of Rotterdam location instead. I did, and now I work in a beautiful industrial office at the Nieuwe Maas.

How would you describe the culture at EY-Parthenon?

I wanted a team that was motivated and passionate, but also down-to-earth and honest. The atmosphere is very warm and personal; you get to know everyone easily and quickly. In addition, the work is very diverse because the projects are relatively short and related to many different sectors. The focus is on retail and consumer products: that was also a positive for me.
